Welcome to the forum. Yes, you can use just one dimmer regardless of how many 4 ways are inbetween your 2 3 ways. I wont say "all" ways in which 3 ways are wired would work with the dimmer beginning or end, but the standard way, the dimmer can replace either 3 way switch.
